Kangaroo Land

Image
This week I chose Australia. Australia is the smallest continent, while also the largest country. Australia is a beautiful country filled with beaches and well-known deserts, such as, "The Outback." Another big tourist attraction. They are also known for their famous indigenous animal, the kangaroo.  Australia is one of the most well-structured and organized countries. They partake in the sustainable developmental goals not to improve their country but as preventive action and allow further growth.  Australia is one of the most diverse nations and are indigenous to over 300 ancestries. "The Sustainable Development Goals reflect things that Australians value highly and seek to protect." They take pride in keeping their people safe, healthy and thriving. The have less issues than many other countries because of how they are governed. Their issue lies upon some of their land being uninhabitable. This becomes more of an issue as their population continues to grow l...

The Marley Country

This week I will be covering Jamaica. Jamaica is a Caribbean country that is known as the Bob Marley country. They are also known for their inclusive vacation bundles, their beaches and the signature reggae music.  Jamaica has had history of natural disasters and very diverse climate change.  Jamaica has committed to addressing these issues through implementation of policies and their sustainable developmental goals. Their issues are brought on by "natural disasters, negative effects of climate change, and high levels of indebtedness." These are big issues for the country because it disrupts the progress of growth amongst the country. It effects them economically with being a tourists attraction, supplies/resources and employment. They plan on accelerating the progress towards the goal by implementing national priorities,  identifying mechanisms and strategies for financing, etc.  Jamaica has many resources to assist with meeting their goal, such as clean wate...

Bounce Back Haiti

This week I would like to focus on Haiti. Haiti is the largest country of the Caribbean, but also one of the poorest. You may have heard about them from that commercial showing sad, hungry children asking you to donate. Haiti is currently still recovering from the earthquake they suffered from in 2010.  Haiti's main issues are overpopulation, poverty and lack of sanitation. Haiti's overpopulation crisis is increasing. Their population density is almost 600 people per square mile, this prevents adequate housing, proper food distribution and limited resources needed to live. Their main issue is poverty. Almost 80 percent of the country lives in poverty. Haiti is one of the most impoverished country of the western hemisphere. Their people are suffering from lack of food and water, improper sanitation due to economic status and natural disasters. The third sustainable developmental goal is a big issue that Haiti has been enduring for years. Due to their issues they are not able...
